Remembering George Rawlings

Just back from a wonderful celebration of the unique life of George Rawlings at the Massaponnex Baptist Church near Fredericksburg.  Remembrances were lead by George’s brother Richard (who sounds exactly like George), State Sen. George Rawlings

I have heard that George Rawlings passed away yesterday in Fredericksburg. George was an extraordinary guy – member of the House of Delegates, defeated “Judge” Smith, the conservative Democcratic Congressman (Va-8) who bottled up civil rights legislation, Democratic standard-bearer against Harry Byrd in the 1970 Senate race, 8th District Democratic Commitee chair, Member of the DNC,..

DNC Commitees to Meet on May 15

 The Democratic National Committee meets about a couple of times a year, but the DNC Executive Committee and Association of State Democratic Chairs (ASDC) meet four times per year.  The next meeting will be Friday, May 15, starting at 2 pm, at the Omni in Richmond, Virginia.  I’ll provide a report.
