Greetings from Chicago! This year’s nomination process is coming to an unusual conclusion but great credit is due to the Democratic National Committee leadership and staff for a fair and seamless process. We had to chose a new nominee and hold a virtual nomination (due to GOP chicanery in Ohio) and those processes were completed successfully, with minimal drama.
Now we are in Chicago for the convention which will adopt a platform, conduct a roll call and celebratory nominations of Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President. You can see the permanent procedural rules, here. The convention pr0vides an opportunity for the Democratic Party to convey its message directly to the American people, let them get to know our fabulous candidates, and make it clear that our choice in November is more freedoms or fewer, a stable prosperous society or chaos, and moving forward or taking us back.
The Convention meets at the United Center in the evening, but during the day the McCormick Center features DNC caucus and council meetings, trainings, briefings, and information tables. Here’s the official DNC Convention Schedule. We might even get to see some of Chicago.
This is my eighth national convention, but my first as a delegate proudly representing the District of Columbia. I’ll be posting on Twitter [X] (I know, I’ll be happy to move when we get a better option) – @demrulz and Facebook
Stay tuned!
