DNC Women’s Caucus Meets

  • by

The DNC Women’s caucus, chaired by our own Mame Reiley, met this morning and heard speakers and reports.  Jenny Kaplan, Special Assistant to the Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement Deputy Director of the White House Council on Women and Girls, spoke, inter alia, about encouraging science education for girls, advancing equal pay initiatives, and women in the workforce, violence against women, and international women’s issues.  She assured the group that President Obama is pro-choice and committed to family planning.  Chairman Kaine also spoke about resisting the attack on women’s rights, and reiterated his support for choice – noting that Democrats are pro-birth control and Republicans are pro-women control.  The Caucus is setting up a Facebook page, and will focus efforts on encouraging Democratic women to vote.
