President Obama recently had a brief call with DNC, OFA members and many others to discuss the bipartisan tax plan. He made the points that the compromise is not perfect, but an essential step on the road to recovery; it provides middle income tax relief; it provides unemployment insurance; it promotes economic growth and jobs; and it was the best we could get. The top priority right now should be continuing the economic recovery – this plan, maybe even including tax cuts for people making over $250K, will help do that. Those tax cuts will expire in two years, when we can make deficit reduction the priority. For now, this is a win.
