It’s almost here! The Democratic Party of Virginia’s weekend of meeting, eating, learning, working, and staying up really late. Most events will be at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, 403 North 3rd Street, Richmond, VA. The J-J Dinner will be on Saturday night (June 29) from 6:30-9:30PM and feature Vice President Joe Biden! Tickets are $175 ($100 for Young Democrats) – get them here. And while you are at it, also sign up for Friday’s always excellent Young Democrats Reception, 8:00-11:00PM ($25), Saturday’s first ever LGBT Democrats of VA Equality Breakfast, 8:00-9:30AM ($50), the always popular Grassroots Awards Luncheon, 12:30-1:30PM (a very affordable $20), and the Jefferson Jackson Reception at 5:30-6:30PM.
The DPVA Steering Committee will meet Friday night from 8 to 10 PM at the Richmond Marriott, 500 E Broad St., Richmond, VA 23219. Then the new DPVA State Central Committee (elected at Congressional District Conventions in May) meets Saturday at the Convention Center at 10:00 AM. The Central Committee agenda includes the election of the State Party Chair and other State Party Officers (except DNC members, who got elected last year); Officer Reports; updates from the McAuliffe, Northam, Herring, House of Delegates and Coordinated Campaigns; and resolutions supporting honesty in Virginia’s elected officials, sequestration repeal, and National Voting Standards, and opposing benefit cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. On Saturday, there is an opportunity to meet with a number of Virginia Democratic groups including Congressional District Committees, the Virginia Association of Democratic Chairs, the Veterans and Military Families Caucus, the Democratic Latino Organization of Virginia, the Young Democrats, the Black Caucus, the new Business Caucus, the Women’s Caucus, and the Tech Committee.
