DNC, RBC to Meet, Address Early Primary States

On December 2, 2022, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Rules and Bylaws Committee (RBC) voted to approve “waivers” for five states that would allow them to hold primaries before the March 5, 2024 opening of the primary window.  Those states were South Carolina (Feb. 3), New Hampshire (Feb. 6), Nevada (Feb. 6), Georgia (Feb. 13) and Michigan (Feb. 27).  The waivers, however, were subject to certain conditions, including the approval of their state’s dates by the Secretaries of State for New Hampshire and Georgia.

The DNC RBC will meet virtually this Wednesday January 25 at 6 pm to vote on extending  the New Hampshire and Georgia waiver compliance deadline. Members of the public may view the meeting here.

The Democratic National Committee will hold its Winter 2023 meeting February 2 to 4, 2023, at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown.  At the Winter DNC Meeting, DNC members will be ratifying the RBC’s recommendations on waivers to state parties for the “pre-window” period of the 2024 presidential nominating calendar.   Additional items of party business will include reports from the Resolutions Committee, filling At-Large vacancies, and Credential Standing Committee vacancies.   Here is the tentative schedule.
