From the DNC: This week was marked by significant moments. President Obama nominated Tom Perez to serve as the next Secretary of Labor, Wednesday marked the third anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law, the Vice President traveled to Rome to attend the Inauguration of the Pontificate of his Holiness Pope Francis I and the President traveled to Israel to meet with President Peres and Prime Minister Netanyahu. By visiting Israel on the first overseas trip of his second term, the President sent a clear signal that the United States’ support for Israel is unshakeable. The President was joined on this trip by our Chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz who attended the speech where President Obama spoke directly to the Israeli people about the strength and future of our relationship. In his remarks from the Jerusalem Convention Center, he spoke of the shared commitment to realizing a just and lasting peace that ensures a secure future for Israel while creating a viable Palestinian state. His remarks are below. You can find out more about these events in the below Weekly Communications Update.
