The DNC announced that the final night of the Democratic National Convention will be held in Charlotte’s football stadium, which can hold 70,000 people. The Convention also will be shortened to 3 days and the day before the convention starts will be a day to celebrate Virginia, and other southern states. For more Convention information, sign..
Federal District Judge John Gibney yesterday rejected the efforts by GOP Presidential candidates Perry, Gingrich, Santorum, and Huntsman to litigate their way onto the Virginia March 6, 2012 primary ballot. Each of the candidates had failed to comply with the Virginia statutory requirement that they obtain 10,000 signatures to qualify for the primary. In its Opinion,..
After only Willard Romney and Ron Paul timely submitted the required 10,000 signatures (with 400 from each CD) to qualify for the Virginia GOP primary ballot, Rick Perry sued Virginia State Board of Elections (“SBE”) members (Judd, Bowers, and Palmer) and Republican Party of Va. (“RPVA”) Chair (Pat Mullins), in their official capacities, in federal..

RTD p0litical reporter Wesley Hester reports that Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuchinelli wants to lower Virginia’s presidential primary signature requirement to 100 per congressional district, and make the change retroactive to help the GOP candidates who didn’t make it on the ballot (including his apparent favorite Rick Santorum). Cooch also noted the possibility of “a..
Frontloading HQ had an excellent Christmas Eve post on the “final” GOP Delegate Selection Rules. This year, the early (pre-April 1, 2012) contests are supposed to be proportional, but with a lot..
Ballot Access News and Republican blogger Moe Lane have a fascinating take on the failure of GOP loser candidates to get on Virginia’s primary ballot. The bottom line is that, although Va. Code sec. 24.2-545.B requires candidates seeking access to Virginia’s presidential primary ballot to submit 10,000 signatures of “qualified voters,” including 400 per Congressional District, in the..
There’s been a lot of press today on the failure of nearly all of the Republican presidential candidates to qualify for the March 6, 2012 Virginia GOP presidential primary, leaving Republican voters with the “choice” of Romney or Paul. President Obama was the only candidate to qualify for the Democratic primary, so that primary will be cancelled and..
The DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee (RBC) met this afternoon and gave final approval to state delegate selection plans. The Co-Chairs also have granted various technical changes to the plans. All state plans are now in compliance.
