The Republican Party of Virginia State Central Committee voted yesterday (by a vote of 42-39-1) to participate in the March 1, 2016 primary. The Democratic Party of Virginia voted unanimously to participate in that primary months ago. Unless a party requests a “loyalty oath,” voters may choose to vote in the Democratic or Republican primaries, but not both. Here are some GOP blogs that provided coverage of the meeting, which included a roll call vote on whether to vote on primary vs. convention by secret ballot. (Secret ballot won).
