The Democratic Party of Virginia Steering and Central Commitees will meet on December 6 and 7, 2013, in Newport News, Virginia, at the Magnuson Hotel (1000 Omni Blvd, 23606). Steering meets friday at 7:30 pm, Central on Saturday at 10 am.
It will be great to get together with many Democrats from around the Commonwealth to celebrate this fall’s election and plan for next year. The Committees will consider the party’s nomination process for the 2014 Senate race – as I have since 2001, I will introduce a motion to choose our candidate by primary. If Senator Warner is the only candidate who files, he will be declared the winner and the primary will be cancelled. The Commitees will also discuss upcoming special elections, budget, the coming McAuliffe Administration, several resolutions, and the AG’s race recount. Senator Warner will address the Central Committee on Saturday.
The 4th CD will nost a Celebration Breakfast Saturday at 8:30 am. The Rural Caucus will meet Friday night, and City/County Chairs, Tech Committee, Finance Committee, the VYDs, the LGBT caucus, DLOV, and the Business Caucus will meet Saturday after Central.
The meetings are open to all Democrats, so please join us.
The Virgina GOP will be holding its annual “Advance” at the Homestead this weekend as well. Their meeting wil likely have more fireworks. Winning is good.
