DPVA Meeting this Weekend

  • by

The Democratic Party of Virginia will hold its quarterly Steering Committee meeting on Friday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 pm and Central Committee meeting on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 10:00 am.  Both meetings will be at the Fredericksburg Expo Center (I-95, exit 130B, Route 3 West).  The primary focus of the meetings will be the 2010 elections – Virginia again may play a critical role in the direction our country takes.  All of our Congressional races are important, but there are four seats in particular that we need to hold.  Reelecting Glenn Nye (2nd CD), Tom Perriello (5th CD), Rick Boucher (9th CD) and Gerry Connolly (1th CD) could make the difference in keeping the House Democratic and advancing President Obama’s agenda.

We will also consider party plan amendments to increase membership and diversity of our committees (see below) and consider resolutions regarding corporate campaign expenditures, restoration of voting rights, and immigration.  (Personally, I am not a big fan of amending the Constitution, but I like the other resolutions).
