UPDATE: The DPVA approved a primary to choose our candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General in 2017. Note that candidates must collect 10,000 names on their petitions, which are due April 17, 2017. If only one candidate files for an office, the primary for that office is cancelled and the candidate is deemed nominated.
The Democratic Party of Virginia is governed by a State Steering Committee and Central Committee that meet quarterly. Here is the Central Committee meeting agenda. In addition, the Committee determine whether to nominate its 2017 statewide candidates by convention or primary. I have attached a motion supporting a primary. It is worth noting the the Republican Party of Virginia has voted (narrowly) to chose its candidates by primary in 2017. There will also be a resolution on supporting family caregivers.
